Asparagus gone to seed

I'm into my 3 year where I am suppose to be able to freely eat my asparagus. However, I went out to look round in the garden and it's spindley and gone to seed already.

Any ideas, It' been well watered and fed, I'm stumped. I had this problem with Broccoli last year (going to seed before properly formed) which is why I haven't done it this year.
