grrr at tescos!

Just have to have a rant about tescos!

I went there yesterday, and to start off I couldn't get parked in the child parking spaces as there were works vans and a bmw (who got there before me and he didn't have any kids) using the spaces wrongly, so I had to get a space further away, leave my twins in the car as i can't carry them both, go get and find a double baby trolley which is pretty rare, and then go back to get my babes. Wasn't happy at leaving them in the car but needed to do a shop!

Then I went in, did my shopping, and the vouchers for points which I'd definately bought wouldn't come off. I told the lady I'd bought them, and she disagreed, so I got the items out, and she said 'oh well you haven't spent enough'. They were things like 1 pack of nappies get 100 points etc, so I said I'd bought the packet and there is no minumum spent on the voucher. So was sent to customer service.

Picked up my bags and turned around and hadn't realised one of my bags had split. All my jars of baby food went straight through it. Luckily only two smashed, but a checkout girls walked past me and said 'oops' really loudly, and then let someone off their till for their break. No mention of I'll get help' or anything. So I moved along to the next checkout to sort out my busted bag whilst all the staff just looked at me. Eventually one woman came along and cleaned up the mess, givingme a few dirty looks and trying to make me feel bad by remarking about how dangerous it was for her to be sweeping up glass etc, and then she walked off. So I went after her and asked her if I was gonna get replacements, and she told me I had to go get them from the shelves. So I asked her to watch my bags and babies and ran up the aisle. When I came back she'd packed my stuff back into the burst bag, and had gone.

I was so livid I walked out and didn't get my points put on, lol. Just had to get it off my chest, thanks!

This is just the type of experience that Tescos don't want their customers to have.

Did you know that customer retention is so important to them as they figure that once a customer is loyal to a particular supermarket, they will spend on average £15000 with them! That's why they have so many loyalty schemes etc. (and why they love Mums!)

Sounds like it's time to switch. So is there an ASDA near to you?

Alternatively, call customer services and tell them that you've been put off ever going there again......worth it to see what they say........

Princessa, I was just having a vent about them to OH. I went in and did a big shop (nearly £200). The organics are partly moved through the store, so I have to guess that sunflower oil will be with the organics but olive oil will be with the olive oils. Drives me nuts how they change things around. The only veg they had today was broccoli (organics) which is prepacked in 10 meters of cellophane. They had a whole basket of them and ALL were out of date. They should have been removed on 16th. Then went round to bread aisle and low and behold, org. bread now moved around back into an organics only display (last week it was put in the main bread). 4 packs of org croissants were out of date. Disgusting. I ranted to the manager who was yapping to a girly in one of the aisles and he told me to go to CS and fill out a card and he would ring me???? What is all that about. I am still waiting for him to ring from the last time when I had mouldy strawberries.

Still having running battles with them online regarding missing points. They tell me that the promotion they had on for 1000 points for annual travel insurance in March was a figment of my imagination, despite a screen print.

I am only thankful that my son is now 7 and I don't need to use their disgustingly filthy trolley seats.

lol, the best bit is, I used to work for this store on customer services!!! I'd have been mortified if anyone came to me and said that they were offered no help when they'd dropped their shopping. There isn't an Asda near me, only a morrisons which I'm not too keen on, though I'm not keen on tesco's either! I can understand how people get loyal to supermarkets though, they get blinded by the points and then once they're in there they may aswell get the rest of their stuff. I don't know why tesco's are the only ones to offer points as it's one of the main reasons why they're the biggest. Thanks for your reply, think I will send a letter of complaint in to them.

Oh it annoys me so much when they move stuff only to move it back! And I hate those cards that they tell people to fill in as they tend to get ignored alot. I've found that store managers hate dealing with upset customers, they send them all to customer services and run away. I had one manager who used to tell us he was in a meeting whenever we had an unhappy customer, when he wasn't, he just didn't want to face the customer.

In other words it's Spam

    And reported now lol ;)
  • Sorry to hear about your bad experience, shopping with young twins is stressful enough without incompetent staff making it worse.

I have twins too and when they were little I used to dread the weekly shop. My local supermarket is Sainsbury's. They used to keep the few twin trolleys they had inside the store. So, I was faced with having to leave the twins in the car whilst I dashed inside to get a trolley!
Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j
