Another carolt thread descends into an argument. Oh, hold on, that was the whole point of the thread in the first place. Silly me.

The reason the thread descended into an argument has nothing to do with Carolt though?

Its difficult to say really. If the increase is going to come in at the time of the budget then I cant see a rush to sell now as few will beable to complete within 50 days. As already said many BTL investors buy for long term gains.

I suspect it may effect those flipping and buying to make money from Capital Gains etc. Therefore maybe be less buyers coming into the market but can't see a rush of sales.

The CGT increase will have to apply to a tax year. So they will have to bring it in for this tax year or declare it will be imposed from April 2011. You can't increase a change of rate in the middle of a tax year for administration reasons.

That's a good arguement for those contemplating selling to wait for the full details, otherwise they might take a hit by selling too quickly then find out that they also haven't avoided the increased CGT

it had to do with the people focusing on their interpretation of my post instead of the subject of the thread.

the un-intelligent types of Graham_Devon and Doctor Gloom focused more on the poster instead of the actual subject that the thread was about.

sums up how pathetic they are really...

Property trading by a Limited Company is subject to Corporation Tax not CGT. So gains are actually taxed at a rate no lower than 3% higher than current rates of CGT, and there is no annual exemption that an individual is able to claim.

So the wrapper for individuals to shelter in a Limited Company is a little more complex than it seems.
and you (obviously) forgot to say much more tax efficient than being outside of a Ltd Co framework if you have more than one property that you let...........

maybe more complex but makes you more money - that's the point of the business

very mature and very accurate especially compared to you waddling into the thread with nothing constructive to add except for claiming people were trying to commit fraud.

how many posts now and you've added nothing on the actual subject of the thread...

probably a thread you didn't like so typical of you to direct into the usual Graham_Devon argument direction

Nah, the whole premise of this thread is to to create an anti-BTL argument. Carolt has done it before and will do it again. I find it interesting that so many bite, surely if they ignore her goading, the thread will die away. I love this part of MSE, it's forming quite a large part of my psychology thesis. So many disturbed people on here, so many destructive personality traits.

Well you are doing your absolute best to keep the thread going, and throwing copious amounts of petrol on the fire.

We'll have a whip round to get you a new poker, you seem to have worn your current one down to the nub.

BTW, Harry. Its called "rather big news". Rather big news that has the potential to effect the housing market quite a bit, dependong on how it pans out.

This thread seems a little pointless at the moment, since we don't know the fine print of the change we don't know whether it is watertight or you could drive a coach and horse through it.

Since the rules are going to change in 50 days time, why not have this thread when we know what will actually happen?
