Nationwide - charges help please.

A d/d has been debited from my husband's Nationwide account after being transferred from Halifax. This was a manual switch done by me, not one done by a switching service.

Ignoring of the fact the the originators accepted my authority to transfer it, despite their account and the new bank account being held in my husband's sole name (which I told them) - it suited us not to complain about that one as my husband hates the phone - I specifically asked them when the next payment was due and was told that it as was due too soon for the next payment to be claimed from the new details so I would need to pay it from the old details. Fine, no problems.

However they told fibs, another lesson learned! It was debited from the new details and put the account overdrawn. I noticed the same day and transferred (FP) enough money in to cover it. There isn't an overdraft facility on the account.

Anyone know what the Nationwide's policy is on getting charges even if you pay in enough that day to cover transactions? Some banks do, some don't.

If they will charge I'll obviously get hubby to call and ask for them to be refunded as a gesture etc etc, if necessary, but like I said he hates the phone and as they won't talk to me, I'd like to get my facts right before I get him to phone. If they won't refund any charges I'll contact the originators and see what they have to say.
