Hey guys my friend bid for a car on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150020422672&category=9861&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBUAA:UK:11
she lost, her bid was £1500 but it went for £2700
But then the seller emailed her and asked if she wanted it on a 'Second Chance Offer' he told her to email her details over, like user name, address, name, and number and that he would contact ebay who would get back to her. Now a email from: eBay .com subject: Congratulations eBay Transaction Item #15. Has come through saying he is a new seller, and his PayPal isn't verified so she should pay by Western Union
Is this common...or is she gona be studged...because she is a lil worried
Help me to help her

Wouldn't do it. Its Western Union...popular with scammers.
A friend sells cars on ebay and he always does cash on collection. Afterall...you have to meet to pick up the car anyway, and its the safest thing for both buyer and seller. The seller gets cash in hand, and the buyer gets to check over the car before they hand over their hard earned cash.
Edit: Have noticed that the postage / delivery instructions say either see item description or will post to UK only....would love to see how they intend to post a car!Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
I'd ask the seller for his phone number etc, so she can contact him, and to do business over the phone.0

Hi..
I'm pretty sure its a con!
Be VERY wary and contact Ebay by phone about this auction!
Many people have been ripped off by conmen using western union as a front for scams..be careful and good luck!:eek:0 -
She said she called ebay customer service and they said that its cool
Hello,
Thank you for using eBay's webform to contact us.
If your email does not address the topic "Paying your trading partner",
please click on the below link to choose the appropriate topic:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/contact_inline/index.html
All payments for items need to be arranged with the individual seller of
each auction.
If the seller has included Checkout once a listing ends, simply click on
the 'Checkout' link, either on the listing page, in
My eBay, or in the End of Auction email. Once you begin Checkout, just
follow the instructions provided; you'll be asked to enter your postal
address and the payment method that you wish to use to pay the seller.
I suggest in every case that you contact the seller of your auctions to
arrange payment. You can contact the seller by going
to their "Member profile", you will be able to reach this page by
clicking on the seller's feedback. On the members profile page you will
be able to click on the "Contact Member" link.
Please note that you cannot pay the seller by paying money into your
eBay selling account (if you have one). If the seller offers Paypal as a
means of paying and you would like more information on this please visit
the following link:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/paypal/
We strongly advise that you do not send cash to pay for the items you
have won.
That is some of the email they sent her0 -
They said don't send cash... don't send ANYTHING!My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I am telling her but she isn't listening..why would he accept £1500 when the car went for £2700....???0

This is either a very dim seller or a scam, I personally am positive it is a scam.
To get a second chance offer you don't need to supply your details, it would just be sent through th enormal ebay system, and incidentally it should be showing in your 'bidding' section as a BIN item that you can click and pay for.
This sounds like the outside user scam. A watcher sees you lose out on a car so sends you an email asking for details and then sends a fake second chance offer. His details will not match the original seller, so he persuades the victim to use Western Union (now banned on ebay) you send the payment and the seller disappears. Eventually you contact the original seller of the car who, of course knows nothing at all about it.
All second chance offers go through ebay properly and will be showing as such, anything else is a scam.

If i receive a second chance offer I always email the seller through ebay to confirm that it is them that have sent it, it is a genuine offer and to confirm is it not a scam! I would not send any information by clicking on a link in an email. Generally second chance offers also come into the ebay My Messages aswell."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!
