Swimming lessons cancelled - no money back only voucher - can they do this?

Hi, I hope someone maybe able to help. My children both have swimming lessons at the local pool. It is not cheap and we pay for a term in advance. Recently the boiler broke and the pool was closed for two weeks. We have been given two vouchers to cover the cost of the missed lessons however it can only be spent if we book for another term. Are we entitled to our money back? We are now tied in to booking another terms' worth of lessons and were thinking about trying another pool as the lessons are better value for money. Thank you.

No thats not appropriate, if you werent forced to tie in for another term then i would say that of course its acceptable as your intial outlay was, after all for lessons.
I would explain this to them and see if the instructor can squeeze in the extra lessons beofre end of term as you are obviously not the only person ?0 -
I would hand them over saying I wish to cash them in and take my business elsewhere.
Imagine paying for a driving test and through no fault of your own, it got canceled. Handing you a voucher for future lessons would be about as worthless as handing you book tokens to the value of.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

nope I dont think they can do this - not if it involves further costs to you. inform Trading Standards.
if they had given you vouchers for extra lessons then fair enough.0 -
Thanks everyone for all your replies. I now feel more confident to go back and ask for my money. I will let you know how I get on.0
