savings account with direct debits?

Does anyone know of an interest bearing account where I can leave £30k and pay £1.7k per month by DD. Have done the virtual High Street and no luck.

I don't know of any savings accounts that offer DDs. Does it need to be payment by direct debit, or would a standing order do the job?

Newcastle Building Society's NewcastleNet 7 account accepts payments by direct debit, -in fact, it's the only way you can pay into the account. There is a minimum balance of £250 and a maximum account balance of £250,000, but other than that there are no special conditions and it's an easy access account. The interest rate is 1.84% gross, which isn't fantastic.
