Mis-price on shoes

Would appreciate your advice - just seen a pair of shoes in shop window with price displayed as £50.00 - price on actual shoe is £55 and also this price on web site. Am I right in thinking that they are obliged to sell at £50 as displayed in window?

They may sell it to you at that price but they are under no obligation to do so

    Just what Optimist said.

    Legally what happens is:

    1) the shop displaying an item is an 'invitation to treat'
    2) you then take the item to the till and make an offer to buy
    3) the shop can then accept or decline your offer. They do not have to accept and can refuse without even giving a reason (obviously they are not permitted to discriminate against race etc)

Shops are not allowed to deliberately mislead but are not obliged to follow through on a mistake. Having said that they may sell to you at that price as a gesture of goodwill.

    Hope this helps :-)
