    The Credit vet is only valid for 3 months so u can try again however as PP meters cost the same as billing meters you are not missing out or being overcharged

    its just a different way to pay. As you are on a debt program the sensible thing to do is to keep the meter as you cannot run up a further debt as missed payments to BG now show up on your credit file.

    ? They are significantly more expensive than paying via direct debit - 28% or more for the average user.

    Perhaps clayre6173 meant to say that prepay is now at the same cost as quarterly credit meter billing

    yes sorry i did mean to say they are the same a quarterly cash cheque...my mistake however i would be interested to learn which company is offering a 28% DD discount.

    Slap the national average of 20500 and 3300 in a price comparison calculator with prepayment tariffs. Note the result. Try again, this time choosing fixed direct debit tariffs. Results should be less than £900 for direct debit compared to £1100 for cheapest prepayment and £1200 for default regional suppliers. 900/1200 = 0.75 or 25% cheaper.

    Of course that is not all direct debit discount - but the tariff is not available with prepayment meters.
