As the account works with a sort code and account nunber then you could draw down your paypal to a first reserve account and the spend using the visa debit card.

Each draw down from paypal though (if you use the free version) takes 2-3 days to reach your destination account (or you can pay a fiver for a faster payments transfer).

A simpler alternative if you are just looking to spend your paypal balance is to get the paypal topup card (costs £4.95) but you get access to the cash within 24 hrs and there's no fee for using the debit card in the UK (although they DO charge if you draw cash out of an ATM)
  • Thankyou, that's great, thought so, but got confused when I read in the terms wages etc couldn't be paid in, thanks again for your help. Also didn't know about a 'paypal' card! Useful info:)

What visa debit card? I didn't think this account attracted one.

My understanding that the way to get money out of it was to transfer to your natwest current account

Natwest have no moved to providing Visa cards on their accounts, the first reserve account now comes with a full authorisation Visa debit card which is very similar to the solo card of old.
