How about, for people like me, "Nappy Cupcakes"? They could be a smaller version of the regular item and be targetted at people like me or maybe the younger people in the family (like the cousins of the due baby - I guess the parents would pay for in on behalf of their children).

  • Hmmm not sure tbh, I'm due a baby in August and hope to use reusable's. Am I right in thinking this is an idea from the US where they have baby showers? I've heard of some people having baby showers but no one I know has had one and I won't be having one. If someone wanted to buy me a gift I think I'd prefer a little outfit, toy or blanket maybe.

No i havent brought one, No i wouldnt but thats only because I know i could make one alot cheaper myself as i tried to do the same thing your trying to do OP a few years ago and it was a royal flop... they are realitively expensive to make & then to try and add a profit margin on makes the quite expensive, unless you use rubbish products.

Hope it works out well for you OP! It may well be cheaper to make them now than it was for me

I've never heard of them before, and I think if anyone had bought one I'd wonder if they'd gone a bit mad, a box of nappies is more practical surely.

So I would have to say that no, I don't think I'd ever buy any.
Moving onto a better place...Ciao

    Hi everyone!

I make "Babycakes" and just wanted to set the record straight on what they actually are - They are a sort of alternative Baby Basket or "Layette" gift.

They are made up to look like a cake, 1, 2 and 3 tiers usually, and EVERYTHING is usable and practical.

The bottom tier is usually a Blanket or Cuddlerobe.
The disposable nappies are the basis of the cake and any number (usually about 35 are used for a 3 Tier)
Any amount of items can then be added, i.e. toiletries, clothes, toys etc.
Smaller cupcakes are made from socks / bodysuits etc for a more inexpensive gift.

    Hi princess85 :)
Nappy cakes,(which is the popular name that these beautiful products are known as), are becoming increasingly popular - I have dabbled in the idea myself :) They can be as creative as you hunny and I say go for it love :)
I would pay anything between 10-30 pound depending on who I was buying for :) I love the idea of the cupcake theme also :)
What a lovely way to earn some extra money - possibly a living :D
    Good luck hunny :)

There is a wonderful thread on here about nappycakes. A lot of the people on there already sell them, so might be worth having a look through there.

Yeah, quite simple but takes a while.
You need Memoranum & Articles of Association first, you get these from a place in Dublin, look in the yellow pages under legal stationary, it's called Kings and ???. Cost €10
