feel like the garage is taking the p^%$

I took my car into the garage today as it has been making a banging noise. I told them not to do any work until they had spoken to me, they agreed to do that. Now they didnt ring, have done £100 of work that has nothing to do with the banging but said the banging isnt a problem and while they cant fix it its a huge job.

Am I right to be angry they did work with out my say so, and do I have the right not to pay for it?

What work did they do? Was the work related to to investigating the problem?

I can't remember what it was but nothing to do with why it went in. - need my car tonight so I am going to have to pay it I think

I spoke to them when I went to get it, the manager was not in today. He said that with out the work my car was not road safe, and if I wanted he would undo the work but if I dove it out the garage he would call the police, he was also very threatening standing right over me and he was a big man. I will not be using the garage again. Its not that I am annoyed that the work needed doing but they way they treated me is not right.

As its a civil matter, the police would be able to naff all.

He could take you too small claims court to get the money back if he think he could. Personally I just go in say OK. Ill pay now but I'll be issuing court paper and we see what the court has to say.

If you think you can stand up to him you can just drive away and let him do the court bit.
