We are entitled to Working family tax credits, child benefit, child tax credits and this was the same when I was receiving my stipend. We get a slightly higher rate now but not a great deal more.

Hi there,

You received the same level of tax credits when you had an 18K stipend as you do now. Isn't the logical conclusion: your stipend was disregarded income???????

This is something else I found: The Tax Credits Regulations 2002

"Payments of income in connection with students to be disregarded for the purposes of regulation 3
9. Income which is exempt from income tax by virtue of section 331 or 331A of the Taxes Act (which deal respectively with scholarship income and interest on the repayment of sums recovered by way of deductions in respect of student loans)URL="http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2002/20022006.htm#note65"]65[/URL is disregarded in calculating a claimant's income under regulation 3."

many thanks to dmg24 for the section 331 nuget!

Are we now all clear that stipend income is disregarded in calculating tax credits?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????:money:
