We want to get our marriage blessed, along with having the babies Christening.
We'll have to speak to the priest about it because I don't know how blessings work.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Blessed in a religious sense?
Why would you do this out of interest?
Surely if you wanted a religious blessing, you'd get married in a church in the first place?0 -

It costs more.
You can't always have the date and time to suit.
A church wedding to me is a huge affair, and I don't do centre of attention very well at all!
Lots of people have their marriage blessed.
Lots of people renew their vows, so you could also say why do people do that when they're already married?
I'd love to renew our vows in the future, but I know that's not everyones cup of tea either.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
EDIT - I missunderstood"0

I had a blessing in a church after getting married in cyprus , it was lovely having another day to wear the dress again , the reason why we had the blessing was because Mum and Dad couldnt come to Cyprus , so we booked a blessing at my local church whom my mum is a member off , she played the piano for the service and we had a reception in a hall with the first drinks free and a buffet for all my family and friends that could'nt come to cyprus !!The original janiebaby0

Hiya B2b,
We are planning to do this as well - however this is mainly because I want to get "married" outside, and under english law we have to be under a roof??
Havent actually researched into this, but don't believe it has to be religious in any way... you can be blessed by anyone you want!

I'm having a blessing but my situation is slightly different.
The venue we are using has a lovely old Chapel attached which you can have a blessing in, but not a legal ceremony as its not allowed.
So we're having a legal wedding with just me, OH and our parents in the Registry Office on the Thursday and then our proper wedding day with the blessing and reception etc on Saturday.
It will be exactly the same as a normal religious wedding ceremony, vows, hymns, prayers and exchanging rings etc just without the signing of the register at the end. Although the venue has a special book that we'll be signing. We're even having an organist and a choir. We arent even going to tell our guests that its not a proper wedding as i doubt anyone will notice!
Its really expensive to get the vicar and organist etc to come out but we both really fell in love with the Chapel as soon as we saw it.
You could have a humanist blessing ceremony in the chapel aswell if you wanted to.What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0
