Jsa, can you claim if partner works.

Can you get jsa allowance even if your partner works ?

i have looked on the net but it dont mention if your partners income is taken into consideration when applying.. thank you

    Do you qualify for contributions based JSA? If so, then your partners income is irrelevant for six months. After that and you move onto income based, then yes, your partner's income will be taken into account as it is a means tested benefit.

    You can claim JSA regardless - what changes is whether you are entitled to any money, or whether your partner's earnings are considered high enough for you both to live on. It also depends whether you are talking about contributions-based or income-based JSA (as the person above me just said!)

    how many years of class 1 NI contributions do you have?

    It needs to be NI payments in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 as DWP years and Tax years are different.

    So the tax year that just finished has no bearing.

    if you have the correct ni then you will go on contributions based, if not its income based and if partner works chances are you won't get it. If you don't have the right ni payments it goes straight to income based, but same rules apply again
