People on benefits should not be given money

there is no need for it. their rent, council tax etc should all be paid directly. they should then get food stamps / essential items stamps which they can cash in for goods and services ie food, haircuts, certain articles of clothing.

all this empowerment stuff has to end. what is the point of employing someone to give a benefit scrounger money, and then employing another one to handle the incoming payments????? a double waste of money.

there is no need for benefit scroungers to have money. they will have their home and their food. if they want money to buy something else, they can work - or volunteer to obtain "luxury stamps" which can be traded in for alcohol or fags.

I fail to see what this would acheive, other than adding a significant cost burden onto the public purse?

I mean, it'd cost a lot to set up. You'd have to produce & process the stamps. You'd have to get these stamps to the claimants.

It wouldn't counteract fraud, as the working partner would provide the readies, whilst the claimant would get the stamps & rent free accomodation.

So what would this acheive, other than increased taxes?

theres no way that would work what about emergencys some people dont have others to rely on what about travel are you going to provide the unemployed with bus passes (cause that will cost a hell of a lot more than the jsa does now)

also what about those with genuine disabilities they cant do voluntry work so would lose out

It wouldn't work. All that would happen is people will buy food with stamps for a mate who in turn pays them the cash, then they will use that to go buy there fags and booze. Better to spend more money (yes I know you will be spitting bullets) on educating people about health so they don't want to be heavy drinkers or smokers.

Yes, that will work on all the people that currently think heavy smoking and drinking are actually good for ones health. Are there any?

People with empty lives are more inclined to fill the gaps with addictive substances such as drink and fags. The unemployed are therefore ipso facto more likely to seek these outlets.

Education can help people avoid this trap by allowing the opportunity to have a more full and fulfilling life
