Flights with Ryanair

Hi, looking for some information, we booked flights back in November with Ryanair to Gran Canaria. We only booked outbound at time as we were waiting to see how long brother in law would get off work. We then eventually booked flights back obviously on seperate booking. Now with this ash cloud and distruptions, how will it affect me if my outbound flight is cancelled, will i lose the money for my inbound flight? Or other scenario...if i manage to get to Gran Canaria and my flight home is cancelled, would Ryanair still be liable to cover my hotel and food expenses?

The fact that you bought them as seperate transactions won't make any difference as Ryanair (and most if not all budget airlines) treat all bookings as singles. So even if you bought them together you would be in the exact same position.0
