scottish power rebate

I got a letter in the post yesterday saying we have received a £50 winter rebate on our electricity from scottish power. The letter said not to do anything and that the money will automaticly come off our next statement. I am a little puzzled at this because not only do I not understand why we have got it in the first place (not that I am complaining about getting money back
) but we are on a prepayment meter not statements so I don't see how we will get it . Did anyone else get this?

Hi cherrykerry
The £50.00 winter rebate payment is part of our Voluntary Social Spend Programme and is offered to a selection of our Prepayment electric heating customers. The payment is to help with ongoing consumption and debt reduction. Any credit on your account can be refunded to you provided the account has been billed up to date to an accurate meter reading.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on 0845 2700 700 if you wish to discuss this further.

Well I don't have any debt on my account (never have done) and am always in credit which is why I didn't know how sp were going to credit me with the £50. Can this be added to the meter then?0

Even though you have a PPM, you will still have an account with SP.
If the £50 is credited to your account, then simply provide an up to date meter reading and ask for the credit balance to be sent to you.
You can then spend that money on anything you like ... including buying credit for your meter if that is what you want to do"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
