Just done a secunia scan and it says I need a windows security update.
Checked my pc and it last checked for updates today and windows update doesn't list any important ones?

Should I click on the blue link to download the update from secunia or not?

Thanks

Does Secunia give the security update code?

Check windows update again just in case.

I have known Secunia to give false messages, but that was always relating to Thunderbird and Firefox, not Windows.

The link will probably take you to an information page telling you what the update concerns.

Hi, fiddiweb and spud17, thanks for the replies.

Fiddiweb, sorry I forgot to post the code, it's KB978542. (I did do a quick google search at the time but it mentioned Vista, not Windows 7 and alot of the results were in a foreign tongue so I didn't venture far).

I've just tried windows update again and still no sign of it.

Spud17: Just clicked on the kb978542 link on secunia and it is this:

MS10-030: Vulnerability in Outlook Express and Windows Mail could allow remote code execution

As I don't use either do I need to download this? (it says it is a security update)

    Thanks

It was only released today, if you want you could manually run a Windows update, or hang on to see if your daily check picks it up.
