It's not really the right forum for this as it's more leaning towards housing law.
If you really need social housing try Shelter http://england.shelter.org.uk/I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0 -
Aren't the points awarded based on need? I guess if you're honest, you wait on the list and allow those in more need than yourself to get into one first.0

We got moved up two bands with medical notes from the GP.0

Totally agree! You are awarded points based on your needs. The forms are pretty complex so should be based on the correct information from you! That's what your entitlement is based upon.
I hope you are not asking how you can move the process on quicker through claiming things that are not true (like feigning medical conditions?) That's fraud!0 -

We were in a second floor flat with twins when our son was diagnosed with severe autism at aged 3 the hospital stated we needed a move to a property with a garden, within 12 months we were moved, so unless you have 'needs' medical or other wise it will be along wait:AAutism isn't the end of the world just a journey to another one:A0 -
In my area you can't just do things to increase your points on the bidding system.
The housing office assess your needs based on your circumstances and you are places into a catergory, general needs, priority, priority extra.
If you are on general needs you basically have no chance of getting a property, if you are priority you have a slim chance, priority extra they have to offer you something suitable within a time limit, but if you reject two offers you get moved back down to priority.
The only way you can move up in the ranking is, you have medical needs as stated above, or if your family has outgrown your house.0 -
Based on what I hear, have lots of children and move into a one bedroom hovel. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

The guidance issued with your choice based letting scheme will detail how points/priority is calculated and how to notify them of any changes that could affect this. If you don't think your banding/points are correct because they haven't taken into account an important factor, then challenge it with the social housing landlord.0 -
It took almost 4 years for us to finally "win" a housing association property - we were allocated band C as we were overcrowded (5 people, 3 generations in a 2 bedroomed house) but couldn't get any higher unless we had a social worker, probation officer or lived in our car - some people know how to play the system (I obviously didn't!) - working seems to go against you as they told me I should be able to afford to rent privately but preseverance and looking at areas I wouldn't normally consider may paid off. Good luck!:j:T Total Prize Value 2012 - £1835 :T:j
:AThanx to all the good people that post comps (and answers!):A

I am in the process of bidding for a place to live. I have been allocated the top band - by answering each and every question honestly!
I have extra needs that give me this higher banding. I can only have a ground floor place due to my mobility issues. (I live alone and so am only entitled to a one bedroom property or a bedsit)
Every time someone lies on their forms and gets extra points they are not entitled to, it stops people in genuine need from getting the housing they need.
My advice to the OP is to fill in the paperwork honestly, and accept the rating you are given.
Failing that, how about you take my extra points....providing you are prepared to take my disability with it!0
