Working tax credits

just wondered if i could claim for working tax credits, im 37 working a full 37.5 hour week, still living at home with my pensioner parents, i pay towards the mortgage, gas, electric, food, poll tax and earn just over 11,000 a year after tax .

    Yeah, you should just about qualify on income. You basically live in a house share (albeit with your folks) - they dont take care of your bills by the sound of it, so you will be fine. You wont get much though - although if you earnt significantly less than 11k last year, that will give you extra TC this year due to the 25k disregard come renewal time 2011.
  • You will be asked for your total income from 06/04/2009 until 05/04/2010 and this will be used to determine entitlement for 2010/2011. Any new Tax Credit claim will be backdated a maximum of 93 days so you may just received some residual Tax Credits for 2009/2010 is you get your application in soon. For further details of eligibility use the entitlement calculator on the HMRC website or call the Tax Credit helpline on 0845 300 3900, but they are likely to be exceptionally busy at the moment due to the annual renewal period.
