John Lewis ovens

Options
I need to buy two single ovens, to be fitted side by side in our new (still at the design stage) kitchen. I'd prefer pyrolytic, but can't really stretch to De Dietrich, Miele, Neff etc. I like the clean lines and price of this John Lewis oven - http://www.johnlewis.com/230473544/Product.aspx - but haven't had any of their appliances before. Would you recommend them?

Thanks,

  • Sorry, wrong link. It's this one: http://www.johnlewis.com/230473543/Product.aspx

"Pyrolytic self-cleaning liners" does mean it has a proper pyrolytic function, doesn't it?

    Thanks,

Course you can. Good well cooked food and very good design, ergonomics, safe, cool touch doors - you can't afford not to...go on, have another look....because you are worth it .
  • totalsolutions, it's kind of you to say that I'm worth it, but, to be honest, I'm not! My cooking's very average and we honestly can't stretch to £817 x 2 for De Dietrich. Our moneypit of a house is already bankrupting us.

I think many John Lewis appliances are made by AEG/Electrolux.

AEG do a similarly priced pyrolytic oven, the B57415M ... you might notice a similarity in handle shape ...

Electrolux do a cheaper one - the Electrolux EOC65140X

All are reasonable quality ... it's just a question of which one you like the look of (and what guarantee they give - I haven't checked recently).

Don't forget to check the electric supply needed - pyrolytic ovens often need a 30A supply - and use the pyrolytic cleaning function fairly frequently (otherwise the burning off, of the grease etc, can be fairly dramatic!).

I bouht a John Lewis washing machine (made by Electrolux)and it was the worst thing I have ever bought. The reason I bought it was that it was the large capacity that I wanted, reasonably priced and with a free 5 year guarantee. It was an absolute nightmare, not only that but the company who came out to do the repairs were awful too. It took two weeks to come out then they needed to order parts so another two weeks and this was not a one off, it broke down 5 times in 6 months. In the end I complained to John Lewis and got a letter of apology. I know I should have continued to complain to them but I had simply had enough and went out and bought a Bosch which has worked perfectly for nearly two years. I know John Lewis have a good reputation but I could never recommend them from my own experience.
We have a Baumatic oven which has been really good, it's free standin with 5 gas burners and electric oven. Hope you get a good one:)
