Having Trouble Issuing a Refund

Options
I sold a faulty DS, but the buyer was disappointed as it was faultier than he anticpated.

There's no problem with that, I offered a full refund, he returned the item, we have left pos. FB for one another, but I'm having trouble with the refund.

I've given a refund before, and I know I did it, there are no funds in the PP account, but will they not just take them from the bank as if I were making a payment?

Anyhoo, when instructed to click 'refund', there is no button to click. Not sure what to do.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

You need to have money in your account to be able to offer a refund. It wont take it from the bank so you either have to upload money from your bank and ask your buyer to wait a few days or find some nice person to send you money or sell something

I refunded the other month & also had no money in my account.

The only thing I can think is that the day before I tried to transfer money into my paypal account. So although it was at a 0 balance, maybe they recognised that a payment was going through???

Its a pain though because the payment I transferred went through a few days later, but because I had pressed refund the buyer has to wait 8 working days to be credited (& it was over Easter). I wanted to wait until there was a balance in my account before refunded but (understandably) the buyer wanted to see it immediately.

    Thanks guys

I've never put money into the account before. Is it easy? Is it safe?

I did it through Paypal, I clicked on the add funds button.

You will nee double the funds if you do it my way though as the payment will credit your account, but the refund will debit your bank account iyswim.

Actually, thinking on it. My buyer had opened a case, so that may be why I was able to refund. Has your buyer openeda case?

No, no case, there's no problem with the transaction. I was happy to offer a refund, even though I saold a faulty item as faulty. I don't sell much, but wwhen I do, I want buyers to be satisfied.

I asked my buyer to open a case through ebay as they didnt believe me regarding the wait on the refund & I thought it would better for both of us if it was all recorded through the ebay system.

That's a shame kprigg. Cases are going to be counted against sellers too soon, along with DSRs and feedback.
