Anyone else had problems with DHL?

Has anyone else had any problems getting stuff delivered from DHL? A parcel was delivered for me today when I had popped out and they dropped a card through the door asking me to call to arrange for a redelivery, which was a mobile number.
I have tried calling the number all afternoon to no avail and then tried contacting customer services. After going through 47 options to speak to a human being it would appear that the robots have taken charge and no one would answer the phone, there was no voice mail service it just kept ringing and ringing.
I then tried to track my parcel online using the parcel number on the card, I entered the number several times only to be informed that
"No result found for your DHL query. Please try again"
Frustrated I phoned a different DHL number, the "get a quote" number and the phone was picked up this time. I infomed the lady on the phone that I was trying to rearrange a delivery and she said that I would just have to wait for another attempt. DHL could not tell me however when this attempt might be though and neither could I request a time for delivery.
I then asked to change the delivery address to my work address as I am in work the rest of the week, apparently this is not possible either. I pointed out that on their phone options when you ring their helpline it offers the caller the option to change the delivery address, to which their actual response was "yes I know it says on everything that you can change the delivery address but actually you can't"
I then enquired as to why they would advertise this, if this option is unavailable to customers and oh surprise, surprise I was hung up on. Tried calling back and shockingly no one picked up.
So now I am left with no idea as to when to expect my parcel. I would collect it myself from the depot (when it gets there?), but it is miles and miles away in an industrial estate and my car is in the garage. I just wondered if this was the normal standard of service or if I am just unlucky?

I wouldn't mind waiting normally but It's a bundle of camping gear for my trip this weekend. Eeeekk.0

I once bought something from Disney Store online and they posted it out with DHL. I wasn't in at the time they delivered so they pushed a card through the door telling me they'd left it with a neighbour.
But failed to tell me WHICH neighbour! After knocking on doors, I ended up having to push notes through several letter boxes asking for whoever had it to come forward. I emailed a rather vicious sounding complaint to DHL but never got a response. Was not impressed.
Hope you get your camping gear in time! Best of luck.0 -
Im guessing if it was a mobile number it was one of those causal dhl @ home drivers, the ones that get paid approx. 50p per parcel delivered. I would keep trying the mobile number0

I have some ski's stuck with DHL. I ordered two sets of ski's from eBay last week, both sellers sent them out friday, 1 by DHL, 1 by TNT. On Friday I got made redundant and the workplace closed, which was also my delivery address
Contacted sellers and explained. TNT one said, no problem, and it wasn't a problem, turned up at home on Monday, no delay.
DHL seller struggled to get them to do anything and said I'd have to collect, I honestly think he tried his best. This was despite being told that it would be free as I am still in the Goole area.. even though I'm 25 miles from the Goole depot, but I'm just 1 mile away from work.
Anyhow, they said they couldn't do it to the seller. I rang, was told first time the sender had to change the address, I told him they had been refused, so he said he would do it, took details etc. Great I thought, all done, waited Tuesday, nothing.
Rang Tues 1pm to find it, as my tracking number also doesn't work!
The woman said, it's a good job you rang, it was going back to the sender!! arrrghhhhh! why?! Oh, the chap who dealt with it yesterday hasn't attached the paperwork, i'll do it now. No apology.
So, I wait today for the delivery, who knows if it will get here!9/70lbs to lose0 -
DHL is so bad i now check which delivery company websites use before placing my order. Don't want to go through all the hassle again with them‘It ain’t over 'til it's over’0

Totally agree with above poster.I now won't order from anyone using DHl-it's not worth the hassle. But----O2 had an offer on a pay as you go dongle which I thought would be useful for my daughter.Ordered it before checking on courier
Today they dumped the parcel 'at a neighbours'- atruly horrendous individual who I avoid. They won't define what constitutes a 'neighbour' ie how many doors away etc. I tried to complain and pointed out that I didn't want parcels dumped other than at places agreed b y me.She said it had nothing to do with me-their contract was with O2
To date they've
-'delivered' parcels into a half full dustbin
-delivered a piece of china smashed into pieces
-given the option of picking the parcel up from a depot 1 and a half hour drive away
I tried to re arrange the last delivery-they said it couldn't be done until there was a 'failed attempt'. They knew it was going to fail as I said I wasn't available. They admitted the second visit doesn't take place and they then send the parcel back !!
Royal Mail may have their faults but at least the staff are pleasant, and you have the oiption of collecting the parcel from a local office or paying 50p for a Post Office pick up0 -
Actually Eira the Royal Mail have hiked up the price of collection from a local Post Office to £1.500

I had no end of trouble from DHL - I missed the first delivery, and like the OP, the card had a mobile number on it - I called and it went to answerphone, but the inbox was full, so I couldnt leave a message.
I called DHL themselves, and they said my parcel had been sent by 'DHL at home' which is a branch of their business that subcontracts out their parcels to independant delivery drivers; i said ok, fair enough, Ill come to the depot tomorrow to pick my parcel up - to which they replied 'as the delivery driver is independant, he doesnt actually bring the undelivered parcels back to the Depot - he keeps them on his van overnight' and they could not get in touch with him either!!
This went on for about a week until I taped a message to my front door, giving my work address and instructing him (if he turned up) to deliver it there instead!
Finally got my parcel, about 2 weeks after it should have been delivered!I smile because I have no idea what is going on0 -
My brother and a friend of his at work recently ordered 2 bottles of vintage whiskey of which was to be delivered by DHL, they ordered early enough so that they could get it a few days before the easter holiday to enjoy it for the festivities. On the day before good friday, my brother and his friend were FURIOUS with DHL because they'd been dodging their calls, so that thursday DHL finally deliver the 2 bottles of whiskey and guess what? one bottle was broken!
so my brothers friend said he'd take the other bottle with him since he had a trip to greece and it was a gift for his dad (the bottle was soaked and label stained by the mess from the broken bottle). So they told my brother they'd deliver his replacement bottle on the saturday of the easter holiday....they never did, they delivered it on the tuesday after easter! They were both very upset and saw was the whiskey merchant because he'd said that had never happened before. They'll of course never use DHL services again.0
