If someone is initially rude then I will not hesitate to sign them up whether it will increase or reduce their bills.
Great attitude that :rotfl:
And thats exactly why I wont listen to anyone on my doorstep and I do my best to tell everyone I know to do the same.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Must be the silly season..... had SWALEC at the door 3 weeks ago, Scot. Power yesterday plus I spotted an EON van parked in the next road yesterday as well.
PS I wonder if its anything to do with the Spring review ? ie catch people who have just had their DD increased?0 -
I hate N Power!
Couple of months ago, one afternoon had a Scouser girl on the doorstep with a young lad (trainee?), and boy did she talk. Tried to persuade me she could save me money, kinda gave me the impression she knew what my bills were with British Gas. What she didn't know was that I am somewhat anal about bills, and I have a comprehensive spreadsheet going back years! She was hard to get rid of.
Later that evening, the doorbell rings and hubby answers. SHE is back. I am usually a placid person, but I lost it bigtime. Screamed at her "you couldn't sell to me so you thought you'd try when my husband was home" . Hubby just looked and said quietly "What she said" and shut the door.0 -
I look forward to door knockers, they give me the sales talk, I sound interested and then say that I'm on a smart meter with 3 rates what can you do? Then they look puzzeled, try and blah it for a few minutes and if that don't work I just say I'm bankrupt ( I'm not) and that always seems to move them away! These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
I switched from NPower to EDF back in October; NPower then said that they could cut EDF's monthly payments to try and keep me with them. I then contacted EDF and told them the situation and they got quite uppity about it; they asked me to let them have my previous years consumption so they then calculated my monthly DD to suit. now I'm switching again but it now becomes very clear to me that ALL these companies will tell us anything just to get our money. Now, my consumption hasn't really changed over the last couple of years and I have now been sent a final bill of £141:mad: ...............this equates to an extra £20 per month on the £36 they told me it would cost from day 1!! They basically have said that I have used more electric than previous years etc. blah-blah. I told them that I would never have switched if they had been 'truthful' from the outset. The cherry on the cake was, I signed up as duel fuel, and was told that if I moved before June 2010 I would have to pay a £25 fee..............................they have now put the £25 on both gas and electric bills but I have rang them and made a complaint. They have agreed to only charge me 1 £25, and they have had a number of complaints stating pretty much the same!!!
So beware, switching can be advantageous BUT it can also cost us.0
