From what you've said you're you're only getting the amount for one person. This is how it will have been calculated -
Prescribed amount (single person) £65.45 + work related activity component £25.95 + enhanced disability premium of £13.65 (this is because you are on DLA high rate care. As healy has said there is no basic disability premium with ESA). Total £105.05 pw.
If you were in receipt of contribution based ESA it's now been topped up with income related ESA because of the premium.
I assume your partner is living with you and has no income of his own. If so you need to make sure he is included in your claim. This will increase your ESA to -
couples rate 102.75 + WRA component £25.95 + couples enhanced dp £19.65 + the carers premium £30.05 when he gets CA. Total £178.40
It will be reduced by the amount of CA but your total income has increased by £73.35 pw
The basics are right but I just hope I've done my calculations correctly
Thanks you have spelt out easily what they confused me with today! (again) but they didnt mention the £30.05 so guess i wasnt entitled to it!
I was told the following:
My current money is : £65.45 plus £25.95 plus £13.65 disability premium.
Was told it should change to: £102.25 plus £25.95 plus £13.65 total: £141.85
They would then take away £53.90 for carers allowance which my partner will get.
Which brings mine down to £87.95, which they say they will pay me £91.40 per week and my partner would get £53.90 per week, so still slightly better off, but i much prefer your calculations!
the lady who called me was from Barnsley and she said she will ring me tomorrow so i will wait and see

I have just been through all this with a friend on slightly different benefits but she has the paperwork now. She gets IS plus DLA for her son and has just claimed CA. Her paperwork states that her IS is now reduced (I think to £41.60)but then she gets the CA which I think was £53.90. All in all she will be £30.50 better of per week according to the paperwork she recieved on saturday-that seems to be the same amount as the carers premium. She was told by CTC that they only use the £30.50 in their calculations, but it won't affect her income anyway until next year? I was only half listening to her on the phone about that so I hope that's correct. She was told that as CA is taxable that affects your CTC. What's the betting she won't be any better off next year when they reduce her CTC?Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

you only get the 30.05 when your partner gets the CA which in itself can automatically be backdated up to 3 months if he met the conditions througout. this would mean you'll have 3 months arrears of the carers premium paidI'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0
