3 door instead of 5?-with children

Options
Hi

I`m still looking at cars- hubbie wants me to buy new-3 years warranty-no mot etc- but I don`t want to spend that much money- i would have to take out a loan.

Just been looking at a local garage website- the garage has a good reputation and has been going 30 years.

Any how they have some Corsa`s at around £1500, looks like basic 3 doors. An S reg and a V.

But I was hoping for a 5 door. But after not having a car for nearly 9 mths and sick of waiting in the rain with 2 children for buses that don`t turn up- maybe a 5 door is not all that bad?

Might go up later today- might be able to put it on 0 % credit card and pay it off over int free period.

Do you think 3 doors are a bad idea? Children are 7 and 4, so in boster style car seats.

Also what should I be looking for? Thinking of 12 mths MOT and 6 mths tax- garage are well known for not giving alot- cars sell themselves.

Thanks

£1500 for a supermini is a good idea. Corsa, 106, Clio, Fiesta, Micra etc.
12 months MOT is good. Tax not so important - it's just a bit more on the cost of buying the vehicle.

Consider your back if using child seats in a 3 door car. Will it be more strain?

Personally would advise against 3 door - why not try a private sale, hence no mark-up for the garage and you will be sure to got a 5 door for the price the garage may be charging for a 3 door.

I had a 3 door corsa with my two boys. I now have a 5 door clio. The corsa had to go, my back was constantly hurting from climbing in and out to strap them in. I would certainly recommend 5 door.

My children are old enough to strap themselves in.

I am finding it hard to find a 5 door.

Will check local paper- but did really want to but from a garage- the 1 I have been looking at has a good reputation and I am scared if i buy private it will needs loads doing to it.

Rang garage they do not do tax but will give me 12 mths mot.
