Phormium Cookaniums

i've got a phormiumn cookanium shrub in my front garden, its the green colured one and i planted it about 4 weeks ago in a hole and backfilled with john innes multi purpose compost with some bonemeal. Problem is some of the leaves have started to split and brown and also the plant seems to have yellowed a bit. Does anyone know if this means it is dying or lacking something?

Well cookianum is more tender than the tenax varieties, so could be cold? Also they tend not to like as wet conditions as tenax - is the soil too wet? They prefer a moist but well drained soil?
Another thought is that Phormiums can suffer with they're own little pest Phormium mealy bug - this is like white cotton wool visible at the base and between the leaves. - if this is the case spray with a systemic insecticide (provado)

frost damage - cut out infected leaves if they are too unsightly.
