Afternoon All!!
A couple of weeks ago there was a pop up on my computer to tell me that my security was only valid for a about 20 days. I went to see how much it would be to renew and it's £65.00
Anyway, I tried to cancel my subscription but it obviously wasn't cancelled as I got an email saying my card had been charged. I don't recognise the card details (it could have been an old credit card that I've cancelled) so tried to get them to call me through their call back service but I never got the phone call.
I've emailed their 'helpdesk' but no-one had got back to me. I've found a number to call but it says for USA & Canada only.
I'm not sure where to go from here...I don't want the security that was paid for by a card I don't recognise!
Any advice would be most welcomed!

At this point and as you cant identify the card I would wait until you get a bill from the card company, which if it was one of your old cards you probably will. You would then need to go through their dispute procedure. Hopefully you have a copy of your all your mails to them including the one cancelling.
The problem might occur if you have set up a recurring payment authority these can sometimes be very difficult to cancel especially if it is a overseas company these should be cancelled with the company concerned and the credit card company sometimes don't want to know and it can be a bit of a pain
When you say security I assume it was a anti virus program. Which one ?"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

I have cancelled a Tesco cc which was long before I got the computer, a Virgin cc but it was MBNA that cancelled that card as I'd never used it and wanted the MBNA one instead and Capital one, which again, was a long time ago.

It's not a recurring payment that was set up with the card, as far as I can tell, it's a recurring subscription (if that had been cancelled with the company I wouldn't be in this situation now) but I didn't set it up...I let OH deal with it!

They are obviously aware that is happens as they have instructions to contact them if you wish a refund.
Try contacting their customer service either via chat or Email LINK HERE
Otherwise raise a dispute with the bank if they send you a bill.
Moral don't set up recurring transactions on your card and don't let you OH deal with things

There's no need to pay for security as there's very good free ones like Avast av and Zonealarm firewall.0

i'd dump norton ASAP. as mentioned above you can get good programs for free (microsoft security essentials, avira antivir for antivirus and the pctools or comodo firewall). Zonealarm used to be good but i find it's too much of a resource hog nowadays.
if you want to pay for internet security, then try kaspersky as it's highly recommended in the techie section (i have used it myself and its very good). if you bank with barclays, you may be able to get kaspersky for free.0 -
I have read loads about people having this recurrent subscription and payment problem with anti-virus software. Its really put me off so although I do use them, I go to Currys and buy the disc and install it that way. it seems to get me around using my card. Sorry this isnt really direct help for you at the moment! Good luck cancelling.:beer:0
