If the CCJ was registered in Aug 2000 then it has probably already been removed from your file, as it doesn't go exactly from the date of registration, rather the month of registration. The judgments have to be removed during the month where the six year point is up, but normally are removed within a few days of the start of that month. Just to be sure though, check your credit file before applying for credit.

I would agree with above poster. Don't go overboard though and apply for everything going.
Consider if you have managed before because you could not get credit whether it is really necessary now?0 -

My default took 7 weeks to be removed after the due date, I had to phone Equifax half a dozen time times to get any action in removing the default, I was continually fobbed off with excuses.
In the end I told them that I had sent a copy of my file to the Information Commissioner with a letter stating that the default was still being shown after 6 years and desite repeated requests to have it removed they(Equifax) had failed to action my request.
Got a nice letter back and it appeares that my default had actually been due to come off 5 months earlier, so in all it was on my file 6 years and 27 sodding weeks.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0
