Hiya,
The grounds of our venue consist of a massive field, but its very decieving as the venue explained the other day, you cannot see it but there is a 5ft drop halfway down the field but cuts into field again but you cannot see it from afar its only when you get down there.

OK so this drop has an electric fence below it and tons of stinging nettles as the bottom part of the field is used for grazing cattle (which are hardly there).
We have our wedding there in 3 months, with children, and Im wanting to put something up, its about 100 ft wide, thinking about bunting on sticks or garden flares just to 'remind' everyone about the drop. I will of course explain to everybody and show it to them when they get there. But I need something cheap and not too 'tacky' and preferably something pretty and weddingy to put up without breaking the budget.
Any ideas anyone??

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. You have moved to the wedding board love

I thought your venue would of had some sort of sign post saying that there is a drop there?

Have you asked the venue what they usually do?
I would imagine that you aren't the only Bride to want to make sure people can't accidentally go over the drop. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I think the technical term for the drop is a Ha Ha. I would ask the venue how they intend to keep that area safe because you have small children attending your wedding.0

I am with the others, I would ask the venue what they intend to do to fence off the drop!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Yes thats it, its called a Ha Ha - it wouldnt be bl00dy funny if you fell down it though!
The venue actually have brought it to my attention twice now and told us to tell the kids to be careful and not to be left unattended etc etc. I didnt realise what they were talking about until they actually showed me.........
There are other areas like a pond around the corner, which as we all know can be hazardous. Theres a little lane there too. There are loads of steps. But that kind of stuff boils down to parenting at the end of the day. But I feel it is my responsiblity to a certain extent to highlight the Ha Ha with a few cheap and cheerful reminders as its not immediately obvious like the pond.

Surely the venue to be in charge of Health and Safety? Seems odd..
How about some homemade wooden signs on wooden sticks? You can make them as loud or as discrete as possible then.9/70lbs to lose

Going with GEEGEE8s idea - what about a line of wooden spoons, stuck in the ground with a string of ribbon and bits of fluttery ribbon tied to it? Won't hold anyone back though!
I'd have also thought it was the responsibility of the venue to not only warn you, but to actually rope it off! Imagine what the 'elf n safety police would say!If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
Yeah I know what you are saying everyone, I totally agree with you. In fact, will call them about it tomorrow? I dont suppose we are the only couple who have been concerned about this. We have 16 kids coming, ranging from 0-18 years old. We will be spending a lot of time in that area, because the weather WILL be spectactular (lol) and lots of photo opportunities in that part. Oh well, thanks for your ideas and advice, will let you know what they say........:heart2::heart2::heart2: I LOVE MY BEAGLE! :heart2::heart2::heart2:0
