Write to her stating, that you are writing to the law ombudsman for clarity on this matter.
Solicitors on the whole, are a bunch of crocks, I bet just about everybody that writes in this forum, who have had dealings with solicitors will agree.
After all that's where most of our beloved MPS start out.0 -

Not me, I can never see the point of sweeping generalisations......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Gosh, bet she votes Tory!
This comment a total mystery to me.............0 -
You make a new will thus invalidating the one she has. You then write to her stating the will she holds is now void and as such you no longer require her to keep or store it and as such she may dispose of it as she wishes but you no longer require any services from her and as such will pay no further fees.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

why not tell her to dump the will (in writing) and advise it has been superceded by a new one...as I understand, any new will takes precedence over the old oneI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -

The new will needs to specifically cancel the old one (it's standard wording any way even if you have never made one before). If it doesn't then both apply and it can lead to real problems if they conflict.0 -
In the end I decided to pay (got it down to £20), then when the will is back in my possesssion I will write to her saying that payment was under duress as she was holding my property to ransom. Also I will mention that this letter is as advised by the SRA/LCS and if the money is not returned then a formal letter of complaint will be sent to the LCS.
When the will is returned I shall lodge it with the Probate Service as that will make it easier for the executor, not having to locate which solicitor has the will in their vault.0 -
Well done you. :T
Please update in a few weeks how the solicitor reacts to your letter. It's not the £20 at stake here, it is the principle.0 -
