Help please re Tax Credit Renewal

Hi
I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me with.

Firstly do I need to wait until I receive my Tax Credit renewal pack to call them, as I have been waiting for our P60's to arrive and they came this morning.

Secondly my husband (who was made redundant last year) has had a massive row with the Job Centre and as a result will no longer be signing on.

Am I right in assuming that that they will stop our council tax relief and that we will be liable for the full amount?
Also will him not signing on effect us in any other way, for example our Child Tax Credit (this is the only help we recieve as I currently work part-time)

Thanks so much

Tash

    Hi

Is there no way your husband can continue to sign on with the JC whilst he is seeking work as I think this will mean you will be liable for most of the council tax, although this
might depend on if you are working or not.

You dont need to wait for P60s if you are confident you have an accurate figure, you do need to wait for the renewal pack though I think

Tax credits arent dependent on you signing at the job centre they are only calculated through income into the household, so whilst you wouldnt get less you may not get more straight away because your income has gone down
  • There is something called 'tapering' which is applied to your award and increases it if you are in receipt of Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, Income Based Employment Support Allowance, Income Support or Pension Credit so your award may be affected that way. If your husband was in receipt of a Taxable Social Security Benefit and is now no longer, then your award may actually increase as your income will not be as much as it would have been. Use the entitlement calculator on the HMRC website for further details.

And Tax Credit Office will accept estimated income (although actual is preferred) but if you have access to your last payslip for 2009/2010 this should be sufficient.
