First Year renewing Tax credits

Hi Everyone! Yesterday I recived my renewal pack for my Tax credits. The want 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 figues. I have put in this last years but I cannot find the previous years now but I have a good idea. I will be able to get them in sep time when I go back to work. Shall i just put in what I am rather sure it was or will this mess it up as do they check it in anyway! Sooo confusing! Also do I just send the form or do I send evidence of this past years income too!! Arr Sorry!

Hi, they're asking for 2008/2009 figures so that they can ensure you have been correctly paid. It is likely that last year you only gave an estimated figure and not an actual figure. can you get details of this from your employer by chance - maybe by calling them if you are not back at work until September? If you have actual figures from 2009-10 - by providing those now, you will ensure your payments are correct for the coming year.
I don't think I've ever sent in any copies of pay slips/P64's......and most renewals can also be done over the phone.
  • Tax Credit Office don't need copies of pay slips, P60's or P45's unless they're carrying out a random spot check on your award (which is nothing to be scared of if they ever do) but you do need to provide actual income for 2008/2009 as your payments would have been based on that year's income and they need to make sure your payments are correct so you avoid any overpayment.
