  • No, buying a new car isn't very MSE, but my old car was even worse. Plus the fact that I'm now a student, I wanted something that was covered by a warranty so it wouldn't cost me much for the next few years. So, it is moneysaving in that aspect.

no it not moneysaving your already paying for your repair costs via the warranty cost.

ive had 5 second hand cars and never given me any problems, i guess you need to know what yor looking for and look at the clues of the car -ie is it clean, what is the general realibilty, whats the state of the engine, fsh, etc, all general common sense things.

also new cars can be as unrealiable as older ones, especially todays cars which come with cheap electics that dont work.

I have benn driving a Renault Espace for the last five years. One of the biggest Service centres is in West London. It is very posh but you cannot get through by phone the staff is rude and the qulality of service is lousy. I tried Colindale and the serice manger was drunk. I only service my car in Europe, it is much cheaper and the quality of care is much better. Try buying a tire in this country double the price!
    Dear Guest,
I have a renault laguna sport tourer (ok, estate) and it is now due for the 72k service (which means it will need to have a new cam belt fitted). I have had quotes from £6 - 800. and I was wondering if it would pay me to nip across the channel to Calais or Boulogne. Can you recommend any reliable garages?
    Many thanks.
