I was with Eon for about 3 weeks in 2008. I quickly realised their admin was slightly lacking when I recieved 3 letters giving wildly different direct debit details. So I cancelled.

I did recieve final bills (eventually) & paid them by card over the phone.

About a year later I recieved a letter thanking me for signing up with Eon??? & welcoming me!!

Yesterday I recieved another final electric bill for November 2008.

I remember paying these bills over the phone because I had a few words with the lady because I had to chase them for final bills repeatedly.

Why would they decide to send me another bill after 18 months? as I bank online my statements only go back a year. I can ask the bank for them but again its more hassle.

I would never recommend this company to anyone, I was only with them for 3 weeks & they managed to get absolutely nothing correct.

Rant over!

PS & they got the final reading wrong.

    Hi tallyhoh,

Sorry to hear about the problems you’re experiencing, I hope I can help.

To suddenly receive a bill for a date so far in the past suggests to me that a change has been made to the old accounts.

This maybe a result of the accounts either side of your old account being amended or disputed. For example if your account in 2008 ended in November 2008 but now the following tenant/owner is disputing the start reading on their account (which started in Nov 2008) then this will have a knock on effect to the account before it (in this case your account).

In situations like this you should have been contacted to discuss this as the changes would affect you.

It may be that the reading in Nov 2008 was estimated and after all this time accurate readings have been discovered and the account billed accordingly.

Of course I am only offering you some speculation as to what may have happened.

I’d be happy to look into this for you to see what has happened, if you’d like my assistance please feel free to email me on the email address in my profile page.

    Brian :)

    Hi Brian,

The dates they have are correct & there has been no change of tenancy. I gave them the final readings & these are supported by the opening readings on Atlantic who I changed to.

I will email you, thank you.
