A positive side effect of your thread, is that I don't feel like 'the old bird in a nightclub' on this board now!! Nice to see other mature brides on here :D
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

I wear strapless tops all the time and I am 48 (49 this year). If you feel great in the dress then wear it. I agree with the others about 20 year old fashionistas..what do they know anyway especially when you think that half of them wander round looking like an unmade bed!

I got married at 43 and wore a halterneck , which was lovely , go for what suits you and what makes you feel good ;)
i can post a pic if you want ??

Thank would be fantastic to compare notes, thank you, I'd love to see your pic.

And a huge thank you to all of you that replied and brought a confident smile to my face...especially the 'old bird at a nightclub' comment...hilarious. I like to think I am pretty good for my age, although reality kicks in when you see the beautiful young girls modelling the dresses. So, I've taken the advice and arranged to go dress shopping with my best, and very frank, friend...keep everything crossed for me that I find 'the' dress.

    Happy days :rotfl:

I'm 45 now, will be 47 when I marry. I'm commissioning a nice frock with buttons up to the neck and long sleeves. I will wear sensible flat shoes and a nice headscarf. I'll probably put my feet up and have a little nap in the afternoon before the evening guests arrive. I won't drink much, though I may have a sneaky sherry but only when I've had some food first. You won't catch me making a fool of my self by trying to dance even if the disc jockey plays any of that modern music (duran duran etc). I do think that as it's my wedding we may make a bit of a night of it though and I won't be surprised if it's getting on for 11pm before we leave.
Who writes for these bloody magazines!!!!

Oh thank you, that's hilarious....I read it seriously for the first couple of lines, but then the penny dropped !!! So..........

I have taken the bull by the horns and ordered the perfect dress which I have fllen in love with.....yes it's strapless !!! Woo-hoo !! All I need now are skyscraper heels and a gorgeous little bag, just big enough to put my hipflask in for a snifter of Dutch courage before the big event.

@janiebaby29...thank you for your gorgeous pics hun....you look beautiful.

Now if I can work out how I will post a pic of the dress I've chosen....would love your feedback.

Thanks again to you all x
