Advice needed on changing over 2 cars

Options
Hi

I don't know if this is sensible or not, any advice would be much appreciated!
I have an 03 Toyota Avensis Tx3D, 35,000 miles on the clock, which is a great car, really comfortable and pretty good on the old diesel too - I do about 16000 miles per year with work.
I just feel it is a little too big for me now, as I travel mostly myself, although I love the smooth ride and comfort.
My wife drives an R plate Fiat Brava, 75,000 miles on the clock, a bit battered and bruised but runs fine at the moment, if a little noisy! It's only used for short trips into town etc
She would like a smaller car, ideally 3 door, as our wee one is now 3 and can get in and out of the car herself now.
So my question is, any recommendations on trading these 2 cars in, for something slightly smaller for me, but still comfortable and fuel efficient and one for my wife, which can be older but smaller and reliable.
At the moment I'm paying £200 pm on the Toyota and nothing for the Fiat.
Sorry for the longwindedness............any comments guys or should I stick with what I got for the time being?
Cheers
Scott.

My suggestion is to keep the Avensis. Trading it in for a smaller car won't benefit you much financially, especially if you trade it in. You will get bottom dollar for your car and pay top dollar for the car you buy. If its just the size thats an issue, I would keep it. You've managed so far so you may as well get your moneys worth out of it.

In terms of the other car, just try and get as much as you can on a trade in deal. Pitch each dealer against each other. I drive an R reg Brava too and I reckon its worth about £700.

    Hope that helps.
