    Thanks to everyone for your help.

    Now im a bit confused:

    "Is he not meaning that to level it, it will take the height of your internal floor above the DPC on your external and internal brickwork and thus potentially allow moisture to rise above it?"

    Now iv looked at where the DPC is on the external wall and the concrete floor is already above or nearly at the same height thus meaning there is DPM underneath the existing floor. So how can putting a new layer on top go above the DPC when it is already underneath the concrete floor and wall.

    Without knowing the construction of your house and floor, it's impossible to give a definate answer. Some cases would be ok, but in others doing the same to a different wall and floor would cause a damp problem.

    Well we finally bit the bullet and had the floor rescreeded, that is a new layer put on top and the builder used plastic fibers to help it bond. Its now dry enough to walk on.

    It doesn't feel all that strong though! or is that cos it needs weeks to become much tougher?
