I have a question. My friend was telling me about her old credit card. She told me that when her husband developed cancer she had to ring the card company. She said sorry but her payment would be a bit late. We have just found out about her husband having cancer. The person on the phone said don't worry they understand and to help you out I'll take off the protection you have on your account so it won't be so much to pay. My point is, is there anything that can be done as I think that was wrong. The account has been paid off but is less than six years old.

What was wrong? Taking the protection off? Why would you think that was wrong?

I was sure that the protection was to cover her husband due to being off work. (no that I have seen the contract for protection) I thought that most protections were to cover the unexpected things in life like being ill and off work.

If it was "her old credit card" I don't think any protection would kick-in in the event of her husband's illness.
