I have a Canary Island palm (Phoenix canariensis) in a large pot in my sun lounge. I've noticed over the last week ants have decided to make it their home and are building a nest. Will this harm the plant in any way?

ETA: On closer inspection I think the nest may be under the slabs the pot is on top of and the ants are just roaming in the soil. I have moved the pot and given it a good water to try to encourage the ants to leave.

  • I don't mind ants but I can see you might not want them living in a plant.
Keep moving the pot until they bored bored of chasing it. :)
