I'm very interested in the climb, we are due to do it next week !
My wife is worried that it might be too strenuous for her. Is it hard work ?
Also, has anyone been to a concert in the Opera House ? We are there next Week for kd Lang and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, how do people dress for a concert, formal or casual ? We have heard that everyhing is casual in Ozz !

The first part is quite steep, there is a handrail to dold onto but is still quite strenuous. This is only for 400m at the most and then it is steady some ups & downs but only small dips. Would thoroughly recommend though. If you go on your own initiative in a car then you can take your time but on a tour there timings are somewhat interesting in the amount of time they give you to do the climb.
Can't help on SOH query.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
Hi Peawack,
The climb isn't strenuous, however there are alot of stairs and steps so you need to be prepared. The whole tour, including the safety briefing takes 3hrs. The safety briefing is SO thorough, there's nothing to worry about. They talk you through moving yourself along the bridge - you're attached at all times so there is no fear about falling even a millimetre!
I went to see Rick Hall (American comedian that's on tv alot in the UK and does the comedy circuit here) at the Opera House. Admittedly not a full blown concert. Some people were dressed in suits, others were very casual like me. As you're going to a concert, there is no need to do a back stage tour, because it's not very back stage! The cafe/bar at the Opera House, overlooking the Bridge is superb for relaxing. They do (or at least did) some good light lunches there.
By the way, if you're into that sort of thing, at the top of George Street in the Rocks area there's a pub/restaurant called Phillip's Foote. They do great grub - you choose your meat/veggies then you grill or barbecue it on their barbie. Fantasticly yummy. They do some "normal" dishes, but their big selling point is their barbie.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0 -

Thanks Aussie
I showed Mr Sheel this thread earlier and he thinks the bridge climb is expensive , but it sounds worth it to me. He definitely wants to go on the Skyrail trip though.
I'll look out for Bob's Wood Art in Kuranda Vicky as i'll be on the lookout for a nice souvenier of our holiday and that sounds a good place to look and i'll try and remember about the Old Telegraph Station in Alice Springs
There was a piece on Holiday 2005 tonight about Australia including Coober Pedy which we'll be visiting and I must remember to watch it next week as Sydney will be featured.Same old same old since 20080
