  • You have misread.
Why on earth do you think Argos should have to dispose and collect your used washing machine for nothing.

It will probably cost them far more than £7.50 to dispose of it.

My council stopped collecting large goods some time ago, but now they've restarted again, so might be worth checking with them if you haven't already. :)
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

My understanding of the law (WEEE) was that they had to OFFER a disposal service, but they can charge for this service...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Is your old one broken? if not offer it on freecycle and get some to take it away for free! otherwise can you take it to your local tip yourself?

The WEEE law gives manufactures Two option
One they have to take any electrical goods given to store and recycle it
The second option is that the store sponsors a local council run disposal site to dispose of electrical goods.

Not sure if they have to actually collect the items or not. Although I would suspect not.
