Thank you for you your advice.
We have no joint mortgage or overdrafts etc, the only thing we have jointly is a 'savings account' (ha ha) which we will close immediately.
Can anyone tell me how to work out the apr on a credit card, I can't find it anywhere on my statement.
I am sorry to keep dipping in and out, but its not always easy to access to the computer.
Still working out the best way forward for me.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks again

Hi again
Trying to register with experian but can't get back the address page, I don't know what i'm doing wrong. Could it be that because i live in a rural area with several addresses sharing a postcode that it keeps throwing me back to that page?
Getting a fraught with it now.
thanks toile0 -
If you look on the next credit card statement it has to show the apr on there, usually on the summary section, but each does difffer, if you can't find it, plan B, give them a ring and ask.
Good that you have seperate accounts from hubby, as he sounds wonderful re money, and so pleased that he has been so supportive.

Hi All
Thanks for you posts, especially Mum2One,you know how important your support has been to me in the past.
On my credit card statement it gives the monthly interest rates not the annual, its not a simples as multipling by 12 is it. If it is then OMG:eek:
please tell me it isn't I really didn't think the apr was that much....can they increase it without telling me????
Thanks again

Tell me the monthly interest rate and i'll tell you the APR. It's not multiplying by 12, but i'll explain it when i post the result. They need to notify you that it is increasing, but that usually comes with a load of advertising material that you may not have read.
Great news about hubby being there to support you. If he bites your head off at some point, don't be too surprised though - he will need some time to get used to it. Some people without experience just try to run at it full speed and throw everything they've got at it to make it go away. Unfortunately it's a long slow process, but there will be a solution.
As Tixy says, it's only if you have joint finances that this would affect your OH - definately won't affect any other family member (unless they have a joint finance / guarantor etc).
Don't know if you've used the SOA calculator before, but it's a great tool for getting everything together and organised.

Hi George and all
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
George on the cc statement it says 1.736% for purchases 2.075 for cash. It would be really helpful if you can let me know the apr from that.
With regard to the joint finance question.....although we have no joint account and therefore legally they cannot use dh accounts, my concern is that DH has an overdraft facility which he needs to dip into at certain times of the year, (he's a farmer so very seasonal income), my worry is that they may withdraw his overdraft facility, which thay could do at any time, and although we could'nt prove that they did it because of my debts, this would have a big impact on his business at certain times of the year. Or would that be counter productive as they would'nt gain any charges etc by withdrawing it.
I just don't know how 'spiteful' banks are in this situation.
Thanks again for any advice youcan give.
