Static Shock from Laptop

Options
I have a laptop which seems to be giving me electric static shocks when I touch the metallic connectors on the side (eg. HDMI connector, iPort? etcetera)

What could be the problem causing this?

Its usually an Earthing problem with the laptop, i wouldnt worry, but it can sometimes short out USB/PS2 ports, it could potentially be a more serious problem such as voltage from the PS2/VGA/USB ports contacting on the metal.
    Here today, hospital tomorrow :(

Technical point, if it keeps coming back - ie shocks twice if you touch it twice in quick sucession - then it's not a static shock but a current one. I'd get the laptop off immediately, if the insides are shorting out, there's no knowing how much damage it might cause!

It can happen in quick succession but not always... Also occurs when I press the volume button which doesn't have any metal bits... Will try and get it checked by the manufacturer then as it is still within warranty!
