Got the hard sell...
Aeneid
I work as a freelance Makeup Artist and received a call from BT today which, from the message left on the answering machine, sounded like they wanted to hire me for a corporate job. When I called them I actually got the hard sell with regards to hosting my websites and adding them to 118 and URL lists etc. I initially thought it a good deal and gave them my credit card details but have since had a re-think. I called the account manager back and informed her that I no longer wanted the services but she told me that the money had already gone out of my account and that she would 'have a word with finance'. I do not want this service and thought that I had a seven-day calling off period since they initially called me not vice versa. All this has been going on from 2 o'clock today and I want to get it sorted asap. My bank was no use whatsoever with advice and the guy spoke to my like I was a right div.
Any advice?

I doubt you have any right to cancel unless they fail to deliver on contract.0

If it is a business transaction it will come under different legislation than consumer, do you have a cooling off period? These people are unlikely to easily give up a sale as they will have a target and will get paid on comission.
If you were offered a cooling off period they should return your money if you follow the procedure.0 -
Under distance selling regulations (phone/internet purchase), there is a legal 7 day period in which you can cancel the service/goods. You are entitled to a refund!!!0

Only advice I can give is the next time someone phones you out of the blue to sell you something and you have to go get your credit or debit card, HANG UP

You need someone who know about business law unfortunately not many on here do.0

Are you sure it was BT that called you, and not some other outfit claiming to be 'working with BT' ?????"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Never ever do a deal off the back of a cold call. And if you do, then get the details in writing first.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
