Currently sitting in an egg savings account.
I pay 20% tax on earnings. I have not used any isa allowance for this year.
Any advise greatly appreciated.

If I was you and I could afford to let the ISA remain untouched I would go on a comparison site like this one and shove your ISA allowance for this year into the best interest ISA account at the moment.0

Put it in NS&I 3 year Index-Linked savings certificates. They are tax free and pay RPI + 1%. You can access the money after 1 year with some loss of benefit.
Seems obvious to me that the government will let inflation rise to effectively reduce the deficit though they will never publicly admit it
