Hello, I tried that but sold it on ebay in the end as it made no difference. I am on some fantastic lotion from my doctor, so I would recommend going to them. Will be cheaper than Clinique too! My stuffs called eromocine (spelt it wrong) but sounds like that as I am spot free now on my back and chest, so pleased! With a bit of sun and getting air to my skin more has helped it loads!

After years of suffering from terrible acne on her face, neck and back and spending a small fortune on Clinique, Clarins and three years on a continous course of oxytetracycline- my daughter was referred to the dermatologist by our GP.
She is on her 2nd month of Roaccutane treatment - the difference is unbelieveable and for the first time in nearly ten years she can wear her hair up and wear sleeveless tops.
Its quite a drastic regime but I would really recommend that you try get a referral if you can - as the end result is well worth it :)

Another thing to remember is, when you wash and condition your hair, do that first THEN wash your back, it makes sure there is no conditioner residue left on your back which can clog pores :)
  • sara thanks for that, i keep getting spots on my back, across my shoulder blades and thats prob the reason why. My hair was long, just had it cut shorter, but i always wash my body while conditioner is on my hair doing its stuff so that could be the cause. will try that cos i hate feeling them!!!

i agree the conditioner not being washed away i think caused my spots....also showering instead of bathing seemed to make a difference. I never found that clinique spray any good. Found harsh acne products just made my skin dry itchy and spotty.

If you leave your conditioner on your hair while you wash then clip it up. I do :)

Thanks Charlies-aunt, I was on Roaccutane years ago. It was amazing!! The problem is I had surgery not too long ago and between having been on Roaccutane before and still have the anesthetic (spelling?) in my system the Doc has said he wont give me anything.

I think sometimes when its skin issues they think its not that important - but it is so harmful to how I feel about myself!

Do you think I can force the issue with him?

    Hi MinniMe

Not sure if you can force him into anything but sometimes 'pester-power' pays dividends!
We were advised by the practice nurse to approach our Gp with the angle that it was adversely affecting our daughters self confidence, & quality of life - and it was making her reclusive and her self esteem was rock bottom - which was perfectly true

One of our Gp's has children who also suffered with acne and was very sympathetic and helpful but other doctors in the practice insisted on trying topical preparations which completely dessicated her skin but didn't stop the acne. Once we cottoned onto who was the most sympathetic doctor for this treatment, we kept going to him for all reviews.

Its not a life threatening condition but my daughter covered up all the time - even in the heat of summer, wouldn't go swimming because it meant exposing her skin for public viewing and was very self concious. The treatment has made such a difference to her, it seems a shame that the NHS seem to regard it as a bit of a 'cosmetic' treatment because effective treatment makes much a positive change

Hope you have a nice GP! Good luck and let us know how you get on :)
