Lloyds current a/c

Finally getting off my !!!! and switching from A&L. I was all set to go back to First Direct, but the savings rates are just appalling. I want a 2-3% IA a/c (well, I want an 8% one, but you know what I mean) and FD seems to be 0.25% - 1.25%. HSBC doesn't seem to be much better.

I do most of my stuff online, so that needs to be good. A telephone system where you don't have to fight through too many layers of "Press 1 for . . . " would be good, but as I found A&L just about okay I suspect my requirements regarding telephone banking aren't stellar.

From the threads that I've read here, people seem to only have good things to say about Lloyds. I've had a play with their online demo and it all seems to work.

My question is how up to date is the balance? With A&L the available balance wasn't always easy to reconcile to the statement. That's always annoyed me (YMMV). Are there any similar issues with Lloyds?

Thanks.

Lloyds have a live Balance and online entries such as faster payments and internal transfers are also live.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

Balances are live, but if you have payments going through your account which are clearing, it isn't easy to figure out what they are (unless you are very on top of what you are paying/receiving)

On their online, they do have an account balance and available balance (the difference being uncleared items) HSBC online do have details of clearing items - which I find helpful (I have accounts at both Lloyds and HSBC)

I bank offshore so don't know if this is the reason why) but Lloyds cards be it credit cards or debit cards can have problems and be security blocked - my hub has a Lloyds duo credit card and has had loads of problems with security - they blocked his card when he was paying for our holiday ie flights to the UK, holiday and hotel - not rocket science that these things would be paid for!

Lloyds also start paying you interest (ha ha) when you bank a cheque so you earn while it clears
