AXA Car Insurance Problems

Options
Hiya, Just wanted a bit of a advice about my car insurance.
Over the last two years I have jumped about for car insurance getting better monthly payments etc. I have always completed my car insurance online and have on ocassions cancelled through policy and have maybe paid a small cancellation fee. Anyway getting to the point, I got a quote online for AXA and was a great monthly price. I have been driving for roughly 12 years and have never had a claim. I was asked to prove my no claims but i don't see to have anything stating apart from the actual amount discounted not the years. Anyway because i did not provide this information within 7 days, my policy has shot up from £15 per month to £152 per month. I have never in my life paid this amount for car insurance I have a 1.2 clio. I called to say that I wanted to cancel but was told I would have to pay £280 pounds to cancel this was on top of the direct debit for £152 they just took days before. I could not afford to pay that, I asked to make changes to the policy to reduce the amount but I have been told that I agreed to the policy, i can make amendements online but every time i do this the price seems to go up. Does anyone have advice or do i just have to accept this. Thanks

It seems as though you haven't left a policy in place with one company at least twelve months from what you are saying so you have not earned any no claims bonus.

If this is not the case and you have had a policy with the same insurer for at least a twelve month period, then you should write to them and ask for proof of no claims bonus.

If you cannot provide this, then you are at the mercy of the insurance company.

Remember insurance is an annual contract and when you pay monthly you are making payments on your annual policy in the form of a loan that you are paying off. You are not buying insurance on a monthly basis. It is possible to purchase insurance for a month at a time but it is not economic to do so and most people would avoid this unless there was a compelling reason e.g. emigrating in a month's time and not prepared to fork out for one year's cover, which would then be subject to short period rates and a cancellation charge.

If you can expand on the meaning of your post, then people might be able to help you.
